Getting along with the tropical rain rainforest as well as the bright sun and beautiful birdsong combining the splash of freshwater, Indonesia is ready to make the Asia Pacific charming again. IFSA (International Forestry Student Association) Asia Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) is being hosted in Bogor, Indonesia and the organizing commitee from IFSA LC-IPB will make a great sound for forestry students around Asia Pacific to Indonesia.

Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) is one of annual IFSA events that involves forestry students in the regions to discuss regional topics and promote the effectiveness of IFSA work regionally in the future. The first meeting was originated as Asia Regional Meeting (ARM). In 2013, two regions in IFSA (Asia and Oceania) merged together to form Asia-Pacific region. The first of Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting was held at Kookmin University Seoul, South Korea. The second meeting was held at University of Kyoto Japan and this year APRM 2017 will be held at Bogor Agricultural University Indonesia.

This event will be running from May 15th until 21st 2017 which is consisting four main sessions such as lectures, presentation, field trip and cultural night.  The theme of APRM 2017 is Forest Value Towards Sustainable Development Goals. It is dedicated to one of United Nation’s missions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, it considers the global issues as well to be concerned specifically related to forestry such as land degradation, energy crisis, global warming and climate change. The event itself aims to increase knowledge and interest of students towards the issues in order to achieve a sustainable future and to face it particularly in Asia-Pacific region.

As forestry students, we have to know that in the future we are the role model in making forestry decision activities. Youth is one of generation that will pursue the fresh idea, energy and capability to boost our green action and movement. Youth can play as connector between adult and children in promoting the valuable things that we can get from the forest. We can conduct some activities like training, education programme or giving the children motivation about the role of forest in our lives.  By doing this action, we hope this is not only getting feedback for now, but also creating a long term impact for our earth in the future. By giving access and knowledge about the current forest situation, we can gather their opinions and also make them participate in taking action for promoting the forest value towards Sustainable Development Goals.

This event is organised by 55 members from IFSA LC IPB, the organizational setting for the event is very important. This event will bring you to the some wonderful places around West Java Province like the Beauty Mozaic of Bogor Botanical Garden, the cloudy area of Gunung Walat University Forest and also transfer you to the amazing traditional and sustainable life  of local community in Cultural Village Sindang Barang.
